PROJECT OVERVIEW

Among history, music, art, legends and the famous protagonists of the final glories of the Serenissima Republic.

The tour continues in the elegant dwelling of the family Rezzonico, full of masterpieces of Giambattista Tiepolo and Pietro Longhi, in order to experience the atmosphere of the amazing decadence of the Republic of Venice.

Among history, music, art, legends and the famous protagonists of the final glories of the Serenissima Republic.

Itinerary of this walking tour:

Starting from the Doge’s Palace, whose prisons are famous for Casanova’s mythical daring escape, we will cross St Mark’s Square, passing in front of the famous Caffè Florian, reflecting mirror of a sparkling and vital social and cultural life; we will touch on the Ridotto, the gambling world so much beloved by the decadent and luxurious Venetian aristocracy,  and then over to the Opera House Gran Teatro La Fenice, affiliated with  XVIII century music; we will then proceed to Campo San Maurizio, with the house of the erotic poet Giorgio Baffo, who introduced the young Casanova to the worldly pleasures; followed by Campo San Samuele, where Casanova spent his childhood; panoramic view of Ca’ Rezzonico, the once elegant dwelling of a noble family – today’s Museum of  XVIII century Venice.

Tour duration: approx. 2 hours

Notes: If you wish, we can also include a short break in a typical Venetian “bacaro” to taste cichèti (local tapas) and to drink a spritz (cocktail).

The visit of Ca’ Rezzonico could be replaced with a tour inside the Grand Theatre “la Fenice”.
This itinerary is fully customizable.

In order to go deeper into the story of Casanova, we recommend the tour in the Secret part of the Doge’s Palace.
