Fully customized Cruise Shore Excursions in Venice
There’s an alternative to crowded group tours: enjoy a customized private tour with your family or with your travel mates starting right from the port and make the most of your time in Venice! Meet your guide right at the port!
Venice, a grand finale for a cruise !
Being so lucky as to end your cruise in Venice, you absolutely cannot miss the chance of having at least a quick tour to the heart of the city. If you prefer to enjoy a few hours far from all the other cruise passengers, in an independent way, why don’t you chose a private tour, with a guide all for yourself or to be shared with a few travel mates?
The cruise terminal: a restricted area
The Passengers’ Maritime Station is not very far away from the historical center, but you simply have to know how to reach it!
Not all operators involved within tourism can enter the restricted port area: as a tourist guide and tour assistant, I decided to attend a course about the port organization and security in order to get a permit that allows me to welcome my guests at the pier, very close to their own cruise ship.
Transfer to the city centre
The cruise terminal is not far from the city center, you just need to get to know how to get there!
From the Passengers’ Maritime station, we have two options to reach St Mark’s Square, the city heart. “As tourists do”, by private water taxi (around €80, price depends on the number of passengers and on the itinerary) or by water bus ((www.alilaguna.it)
Or “as locals do”, by using the new people mover (2 minutes by shuttle-train €2 pp) till the bus terminal and walking throughout some of the most picturesque districts of Venice (1 hour walking tour throughout the “hidden Venice”) or from the bus station by vaporetto along the Grand Canal (water bus €7,50 pp).
Please see here our itineraries from the cruise terminal to St Mark’s Square.
Whatever option you choose, either walking or using a boat, we suggest to finish the tour in St Mark’s Square and to visit St Mark’s Basilica (please see the Tour Must see) and the Doge’s Palace (please see Tour of the Doge’s Palace and Tour of the Secret part of the Doge’s Palace).
Note: if you come to Venice with your kids, take a look to our family tours and scavenger hunts in www.venicekidstours.com
