If you arrive in Venice by plane, you can take a public water boat (see www.alilaguna.it) or you can also travel on wheels: there are cabs or buses that can bring you to Piazzale Roma, the car terminal, (see www.actv.it ) from there you can walk or take a boat to your destination in town.
